PANAJI: Power Minister Aleixo Sequeira stated that he was in Delhi for the two-day maritime summit and said he was not aware of any Cabinet reshuffle.
When asked about it by reporters, Sequeira said, “I am not aware of any Cabinet reshuffle as nobody told me.”
As the Minister of Ports, I traveled to Delhi to attend the maritime conference. The CM was also expected to be there, however he was unable to do so because of other obligations. Thus, I spoke on behalf of the government,” Sequeira said.
The Minister added that in order to extend the expired Memorandum of Understanding, he also met with the head of the Inland Waterways Authority of India.
The Memorandum of Understanding was signed in 2018–19 and was in effect for five years. The MoU relates to the authority of the Captain of Ports and the Inland Waterways Authority of India, Sequeira said, adding, “so we discussed on renewal of the same but for a couple of issues we have decided to have another sitting.”
The Inland Waterways Authority is in charge of nationalizing the rivers, but the State will retain 90% of the authority. Our and their powers are spelled out in detail in the MoU,” Sequeira stated.
