Kamat was speaking to media after BJP meeting on Lok Sabha elections.
“I have already conveyed to the BJP leadership that I am not interested in contesting the LS election. I would have considered the offer if the opportunity had come to me around 10 years ago,” said Kamat.
Former deputy chief minister Chandrakant Kavlekar and former two-time Fatorda MLA Damu Naik declared they would not back down from accepting the responsibility entrusted to them by the party leadership.
While former South Goa MP Narendra Sawaikar pretended not to know that the party had shortlisted his name for the South Goa seat.
The four BJP leaders had arrived at the Margao train station to wish good luck to those who were traveling to Ayodhya to seek Lord Ram’s blessings.
Upon being questioned by the media, Kavlekar declared that he will take on the duty of running for the Lok Sabha from South Goa.
“I have stated my desire to run for the Lok Sabha election on all platforms. Should the ticket be granted to me by the party leadership, I will accept it,” Kavlekar said.
