CANACONA: Pandurang Ananta Fugro secured Bharat Shiksha Gaurav Puraskar (2022) for outstanding achievements and remarkable contributions in the field of education.
Fugro, an Ex-DIA(PEQ) and Head of the Department of Plant Pathology, Dr Balasaheb Sawant Konkan Krishi Vidyapeeth, Ratnagiri (Maharashtra), has 30 years experience as a Scientist in the field of plant pathological research, postgraduate (M.Sc, PhD) teaching and extension education.
His research publications in the field of plant pathology and agricultural subjects include five books in the field of plant pathology and Cultivation of vegetable crops, published more than 60 research papers in national and international journals, published more than 70 popular research articles in the vernacular language (Marathi), for the farming community of Konkan, published review research articles (10)in different research books authored by other scientists, besides taught to MSc and PhD students on plant pathological course and also worked as a research guide and chairman advisory committee for 3 PhD and 20 MSc (Agri) students.
Fugro also has a Fellowship from the Indian Society of Mycology and Plant Pathology. He is a life member of 3 different societies in Indians, one abroad (plant pathology), and worked as President of plant pathology conferences by IPS. He, Nominated as a leading scientist to be included in World Scientist Directory International Bibliographic Centre, Great Britain and was Previously felicitated and awarded a Certificate of Honour at the hands of Governor Rajendra Arlekar (2021).
His scholarships include BSc (Agri)- I.C.A.R. New Delhi, MSc (Pl Path) – IARI New Delhi and PhD IARI New Delhi.
His contribution includes the release of High Yield Rice and Vegetable varieties for Konkan and the developing High Yielding and Disease resistant Rive and Vegetable varieties for cultivation in Konkan.
Fugro has been awarded 3 Gold Medals at American Spring Pressing Works Ltd, Mumbai, University Gold Medal (Dapoli) and Vasantrao Naik Memorial (Nagpur). He is also credited for conducting various training programs for farmers, delivering more than 30 radio talks and taking part in 15 Tv presentations in the field of Plant Pathology and Vegetable cultivation.
Pandurang Anant Fugro, a son of Canacona, is now settled at Rajbhag – Tahrir in Canacona.
