CANACONA – Government of India through Ministry of Road Transport and Highways issued Notification for Acquisition of Land for the 4-laning of NH-66 from Bendurdem (Padi) to Char-Rasta(Canacona) a distance of 14.715 Kms.
The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, New Delhi issued the Notification on 6th August’2024 declaring its intention to acquire the land specified in the Schedule published in the Gazette of India on 15th December 2023 annexed to the said notification for Land Acquired for building (widening/four laning, etc) Land Acquisition for four laning of NH-66 from Km. 570/000 (Bendordem) Km. 584/715 (Start of Canacona Bypass) of Canacona Taluka in State of Goa.
In the notification published in the Gazette of India-Extraordinary, government has earmarked an area of 27.775 Hectares land for acquisition in the villages of: Bendordem (6.0052), Cordem (6.0623) Padi (1.6919), Barcem (7.3358) in Quepem Taluka and Nagorcem–Palolem(2.1191) and Municipality-Canacona (4.5607) ) of Canacona Taluka. All the 27.775 hactres of land is a Private land (Type of Land) while the classification of land (Nature of Land) varies from area to area and large amount of land has classification as Orchard Zone, some partly orchard zone and partly settlement, many of the land comes under Paddy field, while in some areas partly paddy fields and partly natural cover with No Development Slopes, Partly orchard zone with No Development Slopes, substantial area is partly protected/reserved forest , No Development Slopes, some areas comes under Reserved/Protected Forest… Some partly settlement and paddy fields, Settlement Zone With Irrigation Command Area (Overlap with No Develpment Slope), Irrigation Command Area and No Development Slope, Paddy field/ khazan With Irrigation Command Area, Railway, Paddy field/khazan Zone, Partly Cultivable Land With Natural Cover, Partly Orchard zone with Irrigation Command Area.
The notification states that objections have been received and the same have been considered by the competent authority and in pursuance of sub-section (1) of section 3(D) of the said Act, the competent authority has submitted its report to the Central Government. ]
‘upon receipt of the said report of the competent authority and in exercise of the powers conferred by the sub-section (1) of section 3(D) of the said Act, the Central Government hereby declares that the land specified in the said Schedule should be acquired for the aforesaid purpose’, state the Notification, further mentioning that the land specified in the said Schedule shall vest absolutely in the Central Government, free from all encumbrances.
