PANAJI: The Crime Branch has arrested 48-year-old Mohammad Suhail, a notorious accused in multiple land grabbing cases, after tracing him to Quepem following months of evasion. Suhail had reportedly been frequently changing his locations to avoid arrest.
Originally from Davangiri, Karnataka, and currently residing in Pillar, Suhail is a habitual offender wanted in numerous cases involving land fraud, forgery, cheating, criminal breach of trust, and conspiracy.
According to officials, Suhail has been named in at least a dozen cases filed between 2012 and 2023. These cases are under investigation by the Special Investigation Team (SIT), Economic Offences Cell (EOC), and police stations in Mapusa and Porvorim.
In most of these instances, Suhail is believed to have masterminded the forgery of property documents and conspired with others to illegally transfer or sell land.
