PANJIM:As many as four private hospitals in the state have come on board to treat COVID-19 patients, even as the State is gearing up to set up third dedicated COVID-19 hospital.
Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant told reporters after cabinet meeting that four private hospitals including Manipal Hospital, Salgaoncar Medical Research Centre, Healthway Hospital and Apollo Hospital has agreed to come on board to treat COVID-19 patients.
He said that the state run Ponda Sub district hospital, which is converted into a second COVID-19 hospital has been commissioned from today and 27 patients have been shifted.
Sawant said that the industries have started four covid care centres in the state with the help of Indian Medical Association.
Meanwhile, Health Minister Vishwajit Rane said that the government is in process of setting up a third COVID hospital at the new South Goa district hospital. He said that the Chief Minister has given his consent and the process to commission the facility has been initiated.
