PANAJI: The Sub Divisional Officer (SDO) or Deputy Collector of each taluka has been appointed by the State government as the qualified official in charge of granting minority certificates.
Under Secretary Revenue (II) Sandeep Gawade stated in a notification that the Deputy Collector or Sub Divisional Officer of a taluka is designated as a competent authority to issue minority certificates to the minority community residing within the State, as notified by the National Commission for Minorities under the National Commission of Minorities Act 1992.
According to Gawade, the position is effective immediately and will last until additional directives are given.
In accordance with the Act’s requirements and any other pertinent guidelines that may be issued from time to time, the Authority will perform all tasks and responsibilities associated with the granting of minority certificates.
The action is a part of an attempt to increase the efficiency and accessibility of minority certificate issuing for qualified individuals in each taluka.
