PANAJI: In a bid to ease the way of paying bills, the Goa Electricity Department today has introduced the dynamic QR code facility.
With this, consumers can now use this technology on their electricity bills to pay their bills via UPI-linked apps such as Gpay, OnePe, and Bhim.
Under the system, QR codes will be displayed at different Sampark centres.
To make a payment, the consumer must first download a mobile app. The app will allow the scanning of the QR code.
Then, the app user will have to enter the account number against which the payment is to be made, the amount to be paid and the secret code.
The amount will automatically be deducted from the linked bank account.
The Department of Information and Technology has arranged with all major banks for the purpose.
The system would help one make the payment without cash or debit/credit card.
Power Minister Sudin Dhavalikar had said that within the next month, electricity consumers will be able to pay their bills by using a QR code.
