Panaji: NEI Commissioner and former South Go MP Narendra Sawaikar has written a letter to Union Minister Manaukh Mandviya seeking intervention in extending validity of SOP by MoHFW granting dispensation for vaccine beyond 31st October to enable eligible persons intending to take international travel for education & employment.
“I would like to seek your kind intervention in the following matter of public importance i.e. to seek extension of the validity of the MHFW SOP which grants special dispensation for administration of second dose
of Covishied vaccine prior to prescribed time interval (after 28 days but before 84
days) to eligible persons intending to undertake international travel for education purpose, for joining employment in foreign countries, etc,” he said in the letter.
Sawaikar said Goa like many other states of India has a large diaspora and NRIs which includes scafarers. It has come to light that there was a time limit imposed in the MHFW SOP upto 31st August, 2021 which was subscquently extended till
31st October. 2021 but thercafter there has been no extension.
“There are a large number of eligible persons specially seafarers from Goa
who intend to undertake international travel after 31s October. 2021 but arc
unable to avail the facility of relaxation due to non extension of the date beyond
31* October, 2021.” he said.
He added, “I thercfore seek your kind assistance in this regard and implore you to kindly extend the validity of the MHFW SOP beyond 3|st October, 2021 so as to
accommodate those who have to undertake international travel for education, employment, etc.”
