New Delhi: India’s National Security Advisor Ajit Kumar Doval met Russia’s First Deputy Prime Minister Denis Manturov in Moscow to review ongoing defence and strategic cooperation, the Russian Embassy said on Friday.
Talks covered a broad spectrum of bilateral military-technical cooperation and progress in joint projects across key sectors, including civil aircraft manufacturing, metallurgy, and the chemical industry.
The meeting came a day after NSA Doval’s discussions with President Vladimir Putin and Russia’s Security Council Secretary Sergey Shoigu on August 7.
On August 8, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Putin held a telephonic conversation, focusing on trade, economic, and investment ties. PM Modi described the exchange as “very productive and detailed,” adding that he thanked Putin for sharing updates on the Ukraine conflict.
“We reviewed progress in our bilateral agenda and reaffirmed our commitment to further deepening the India-Russia Special and Privileged Strategic Partnership. I look forward to hosting President Putin in India later this year,” Modi posted on X.
The Ministry of External Affairs said both leaders reaffirmed plans for the 23rd India-Russia Annual Summit to be held in India.
The high-level engagements come amid ongoing tensions over India’s recent tariffs on Russian oil purchases, even as both sides continue to stress the importance of their long-standing strategic partnership.
