PANAJI: Upset with prolonged delay in releasing semester examinations results for undergraduate and postgraduate courses, the National Students Union of India (NSUI) Goa has questioned the functioning of the Controller of Examinations at Goa University (GU).
On Tuesday, a delegation led by NSUI State President Naushad Chowdhari met the GU Registrar Radhika Nayak, demanding the release of results without further delay.
“Today, the NSUI delegation met the Registrar demanding declaring results of all the final year students of undergraduate and postgraduate courses. These students face many hardships in applying for higher studies and employment for want of mark sheet. The Registrar assured to release the results by next week. If not, we will stage a protest,” he told reporters at the GU campus after the meeting.
Chowdhari also sought to know the Controller of Examination’ Department’s intention behind resorting to repeated delays. “This is not the first time. Even before the pandemic, GU didn’t release results in time, although as per its ordinance, results should be declared within eight weeks of the conclusion of the exams. What is the Controller of Examinations doing?” he said.
Such a lethargic attitude and owing to ex-Vice Chancellor Varun Sahni’s vested interests, Chowdhary alleged, GU’s ranks has considerably dropped. “We have urged the new Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Harilal Menon to not follow Sahni’s footsteps,” he said. The NSUI has also been demanding a full-time Registrar for the varsity.
