RAIA: In a swift breakthrough, Maina Curtorim Police solved the murder of a 38-year-old Odisha native within 12 hours of the case being reported. Two suspects, both acquaintances of the victim, have been arrested while attempting to flee Goa.
The deceased, Khageswar Sabar, originally from Goudachendia, Kalahandi, Odisha was found murdered in a rented room near Luis Garage, Sonarwaddo, Raia, where he had been living. The crime was reported on April 13, 2025, at 1:35 p.m. by Peter Quadros, a local panch member.
Upon investigation led by PI Arun Gauns Dessai, it was revealed that Sabar had been residing with two fellow Odisha natives — Sashibant Majhi (43) and Rabi Majhi (28) — both of whom were untraceable at the time, raising suspicions.
Three police teams were immediately deployed at Margao Railway Station, KTC Bus Stand, and nearby areas. Based on local intelligence and tenant verification records, Sashibant Majhi was arrested near Margao Railway Station while trying to escape.
Hours later, after receiving a tip-off about a sighting in Bambolim, the second accused, Rabi Majhi, was also apprehended.
The case was registered under Section 103(1) read with 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023. Both accused are now in police custody.
The investigation was led by PI Arun Gauns Dessai, PSIs Gaurav NaikandAshitosh Naik, under the supervision of ASP Mayank Dubey (IPS ProbationerandSDPO Sidhant Shirodkar, with the support of the entire Maina Curtorim PS staff.
Further investigation is ongoing.
