MARGAO: On the evening of November 1, Colva police conducted a drug bust in the vicinity of Lovers Beach in Betalbatim, Salcete, in response to a State complaint.
Officers found a bag containing a floral substance, possibly ganja, that weighed 895 grams and was worth about Rs 89,500 during the operation.
The illegal substance was discovered in the possession of the accused, Sumeet Mohan Das, a resident of Betalbatim who was originally from Khordha, Odisha.
Section 20(b)(ii)(B) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985, has been used to record an offense. PSI Varshda Naik Dessai of the Colva Police Station is currently in charge of the inquiry.
