PONDA: Based on Goycho Mahila Ekvot complaint, Ponda Police have registered an FIR against a 28-year-old male Bethoda primary school teacher under sections of POCSO & Sec 8 of the Goa children act for outrage modesty of a minor girl. The incident occurred in July 2018.
Ponda DySP Nelson Albuquerque said they have booked the teacher after the Margao-based NGO, ‘Goenchea Bailancho Ekvott’, lodged a complaint against him.
The NGO said the father-in-law accused is chairman of the school society. The accused was not arrested until late Wednesday evening.
The NGO has also submitted the video clip along with the complaint as evidence.
According to the complainant, the male teacher is seen removing the clothes of girl children in the video, in front of the chairman, despite the school having female staff members.
The police officer said the act is an outraging modesty of the girl children. The accused has been booked under section 354 B (disrobing the victim) of IPC, 8 of Goa Children’s Act and section 8 & 12 of POCSO (Prevention Of Children from Sexual Offences) Act.
