Lok Sabha Polls preparations begin in Canacona

CANACONA: Government machinery of Canacona is activated in view of the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
While Lok Sabha -2024 General Elections (Polls) will be held on different dates spread in the Seven(7)-phases across the Nation beginning 19th April’2024, elections for the two Lok Sabha (North-Goa and South-Goa) Seats in Goa will be held simultenously in phase-3 on 7th May’2024.
Canacona constituency as one of the assembly segment in South –Goa LS Seat has already set the ball rolling to prepare all the 59 polling booths with all the necessary facilties and amenities needed for polling day.
On the direction of Chief Electoral Officer, different teams are appointed and are already activated for preparatory works. Instructions are issued to provide necessary facilities at all the 59 booths while ensuring all the systems required for the voting process are reassessed and ready.
According to the order issued by South Goa Superintendent of Police Sunita Sawant, Six (6) officers have been appointed in Canacona including Sachin Gaonkar (Agriculture depart), Kishore Parwar (Water Resources Department), Priyesh Namshikar (WRD), Sumit Sawal (PWD), Ganesh Velip (WRD), Nagaraj Adpaikar (PWD), besides Police personnel Paresh Velip, Bhushan Phaldesai, Anand Pagi, Ajit Krishna Gosavi, Vishal Velip, Santosh Gaonkar, Santosh Naik, Rakshak Velip, Rahul Desai, Akash Gaonkar, Ravi Bandivadekar, Vithoba Bandodkar have been deployed with the respective teams.
Meanwhile, a 16 –member CRPF team deployed to Canacona is conducting flag march in various parts of the constituency, beginning Sunday.
Canacona PI Harish Raut Dessai informed that some police personnel including PSI, ASI, HCs and PC are also deployed alongwith CRPF personnel on border areas, besides conduct of regular flag-marches in centrally located Chaudi town and main areas particularly on beachside of Agonda, Palolem, Patnem and bazaar areas of Poinguinim, Loliem –Maxem , Gaondongrim, Khotigao, Bhatpal, Shristhal, areas. Flag march is also taken at Polem border checkpost.
Flag marches are held as a confidence building measure for the people of the areas ensuring and guarantying free and fair polls.
