PANAJI: St Andre MLA Viresh Borkar said that government officials must uphold decorum before accusing elected representatives and protesters of misconduct, amid the continuing row over Section 39A of the Town and Country Planning (TCP) Act.
Speaking to the media after a meeting of the Business Advisory Committee (BAC), Borkar said he had raised multiple concerns related to Section 39A, other pending legislative matters, and the alleged manhandling incident that took place during the recent protest at the TCP office.
The MLA stated that when he and others visited the TCP office to seek clarifications, they were assured that their queries would be addressed. However, he alleged that the concerned officers left the premises without providing any written responses or formally communicating their position.
According to Borkar, such conduct did not reflect proper administrative decorum. Reacting to allegations that protesters had failed to maintain discipline during the visit, he maintained that officials should first ensure that they themselves follow due procedure and respect established norms.
