New Delhi: Union Minister Nitin Gadkari on Sunday called for a gradual transition of responsibilities from the older generation to the younger generation, saying experience should guide change while new leaders take the reins. He made the remarks during a press conference in Nagpur ahead of the third edition of the Advantage Vidarbha-Khasdar Audhyogik Mahotsav, an industrial expo conceptualised by him and organised by Ashish Kale of the Association for Industrial Development (AID).
Gadkari, 68, noted that when systems and projects begin running smoothly, the older generation should step back and allow younger leaders to manage ongoing responsibilities. He praised Kale for involving young entrepreneurs in the Advantage Vidarbha initiative and said such participation ensures continuity and growth. “Now we should be gradually made to retire and the responsibility be given to the new generation. When the vehicle starts running smoothly, we can withdraw and focus on other work,” Gadkari added.
Highlighting the potential of the Vidarbha region, Gadkari said it is home to a growing pool of entrepreneurs across multiple sectors. The three-day expo, scheduled from February 6 to 8 in Nagpur, aims to position Vidarbha as a key industrial and growth hub on India’s economic map.
Gadkari emphasised that sustainable regional development requires strong engagement across industry, agriculture, allied sectors, and services. The Advantage Vidarbha expo will feature participation from a diverse range of industries, including textiles, plastics, minerals, coal, aviation, logistics, IT, healthcare, pharmaceuticals, defence, real estate, renewable energy, and startups.
He reiterated that fostering young leadership, combined with the guidance of experienced mentors, is essential for driving innovation, growth, and long-term industrial development in the region.
