OLD GOA: The Se-Old Goa panchayat has revoked the construction license and subsequent renewal license to the controversial structure which has come up within heritage precincts of St Cajetan Church.
The revocation order was issued on to Jose Maria de Gouveia de Pinto and Sumermal Jain of the Corvus Urban Infrastructures Ltd.
The order the panchayat has stated that it has resolved to revoke the licenses as the replies to the show-cause notices were unsatisfactory.
The panchayat has further cited three reasons for revoking the licenses, namely violation of CRZ permission which does not allow structure to be sold or transferred to the non-traditional community.
“For violation of permission granted by Archaeological Survey of India that permission was granted for repairs to the existing residential house and no permission was granted for reconstruction of house,” the orderstates.
The panchayat will now conduct an inspection of the structure, the date for which will be decided later.
The controversy surrounding the construction of the allegedly illegal bungalow near the St. Cajetan Church in Old Goa erupted some months back and prompted civil society protests ahead of the 2022 Assembly polls.
