OLD GOA: In a proactive step towards enhancing public safety and community engagement, Old Goa Police on Saturday conducted an awareness program alongside a series of preventive operations across key areas in their jurisdiction.
The awareness program, held at 6:00 pm in Alto Santa Cruz, focused on safety measures, cyber fraud prevention, and community security practices. The session saw active participation from residents of Filomena, Rego Baugh, SBI Colony, and Vasudha Colony. Officers educated citizens on the importance of electronic bar entry systems for alerting authorities about halted vehicles or unknown persons, the use of CCTV cameras, and the significance of community vigilance.
In a parallel initiative, combing operations were carried out at Merces and the Karmali railway station. These included tenant verification drives, random checks, and security inspections. During the operation, police rounded up a total of 513 individuals for verification. Twelve people were arrested under preventive provisions, including four on the stranger roll and four unauthorized hawkers.
Old Goa Police emphasized that such operations and awareness programs will continue regularly to ensure safety, build community cooperation, and deter unlawful activities.
