MARGAO: The Public Works Department (PWD), Goa, has announced that the Old Zuari Bridge located along National Highway 66 will be temporarily closed to all vehicular traffic on Sunday, May 4, 2025, between 6:30 a.m. and 9:30 a.m. The decision was issued by the Executive Engineer of Works Division-XIV (NH), PWD, Fatorda, to facilitate important engineering work on the aging bridge.
According to officials, the closure is required to enable the recording of deck levels — a critical structural assessment activity aimed at ensuring the safety and longevity of the bridge.
During the closure period, traffic will be diverted through the adjacent New Zuari Bridge, with vehicles rerouted along the respective right-hand side (RHS) and left-hand side (LHS) corridors designed to handle the diverted flow.
Authorities have urged motorists to plan their travel in advance to avoid delays and ensure smooth traffic movement during the early morning hours.
The Old Zuari Bridge has been a key connection along the NH-66 corridor, linking North and South Goa. With the New Zuari Bridge now operational, infrastructure agencies are actively conducting structural health assessments on the older structure to ensure safety and stability.
