DABOLIM: Goa International Airport Director Gagan Malik today said that the arrival protocol for people travelling from high risk areas has been changed as per directions from the central government which inturn could affect charter tourism.
“The procedure for arrival into Goa has been changed after centres directions; people entering in Goa from high risk countries will be mandatorily tested and this can affect international charter flights coming into the state,” said AAI Goa Airport Director Gagan Malik
He further said that international flight operations which were to be resumed from December 15 has been put up on hold to contain further spread of the new variant of COVID19.
Travellers from ‘countries at-risk’ will need to take the Covid test post-arrival and wait for results at the airport, according to health ministry guidelines.
If tested negative, they have to undergo home quarantine for seven days followed by a re-test on the eighth day. If the test again yields a negative result, they will have to further self-monitor for the next seven days.
The countries assigned at-risk by the government are – South Africa, China, the United Kingdom, European countries, Bangladesh, Brazil, Botswana, Mauritius, New Zealand, Zimbabwe, Hong Kong, Singapore and Israel.
The government earlier held meetings with top officials and the health ministry over the omicron variant. The decision to resume regular international flight services from December 15 will be reviewed in the changed situation, the government said.
