MANDREM: Mandrem police have arrested one accused person in connection with recent temple thefts.
As per SP North Akshat Kaushal unknown accused person had effected an entry into the garbhakudi of Shree Hanuman Temple, Madhlamaj, Mandrem on 07/08/2024 and broke open the main door and thereafter broke opened the lock of the donation box and decamped with cash of Rs.10,000/- and gold ornaments (eye-shaped) affixed to the idol of Rs.20,000/-. All are worth Rs.30,000/- approximately.
Earlier too one temple theft had occurred in Ajoba temple Keri and police analysed the CCTV footage to zero on the suspect accused.
During the course of the investigation, team under the supervision of SDPO Pernem Jivba Dalvi, PI Sherif J. Jaques of Mandrem Police Station and PSI, Kunal Naik, PC-6158, Saeesh Pokle, PC-6886, Vijay Gaikwad & PC-7913, Yogesh Shinde was formed.
After a thorough analysis of CCTV footage and technical surveillance, the police team finally managed to apprehend the accused person namely Vinod Rama Patekar r/o. H. No.1096, Madhlamaj, Mandrem, from Oros, Maharashtra State and recovered Gold jewellery Eyes shaped (02-Two) and cash of Rs.3958/- including Notes & Coins from the accused person.
​Further during interrogation the above accused person also confessed his involvement in a temple theft case at Shree Ajoba Temple, Keri-Pernem, which happened some days before. The accused person is also previously involved in a rape case.
Further investigation is in progress under the supervision of SP North Akshat Kaushal, SDPO Pernem Jivba Dalvi and PI Mandrem Sheriff Jacques.
