VERNA: Police at the Verna Police Station have registered a serious case of alleged sexual abuse against a stepfather following a complaint filed by the mother of the victim boy (name withheld), a resident of Sancoale.
The complaint alleges that the accused person, the step-father of the minor boy, has been repeatedly sexually abusing the victim at their residence in Sancoale since the year 2023 up to the present date. Furthermore, the accused is also alleged to have criminally intimidated and threatened the minor boy with death if he disclosed the incidents to anyone.
A case has been registered under relevant sections of the law, including the stringent Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
The investigation into this sensitive matter has been entrusted to LPS Pramila Fernandes of Verna PS. Police are currently gathering evidence and conducting further inquiries into the prolonged duration and nature of the abuse as alleged by the complainant.
The accused has reportedly been taken into custody, and police are urging anyone with information related to the case to come forward while maintaining the utmost confidentiality regarding the identity of the victim.
