PERNEM: Mandrem Police have registered an unnatural death case following the drowning of a young man at Vithaldaswada, Morjim, in Pernem taluka late on December 31, 2025.
According to police, U.D. No. 58/2025 was registered at 11.04 pm under Section 194 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), 2023, after Mandrem Police Station received telephonic information from the Community Health Centre (CHC), Tuem, that an unknown male had been brought dead from Morjim.
Subsequent enquiry revealed that the deceased was identified as Aditya (full name not known), aged around 25 to 30 years, a native of Bihar.
He was described as having a thin build and fair complexion and was wearing a brown-coloured short pant at the time of the incident. Police stated that the death occurred due to drowning at Vithaldaswada, Morjim.
Investigations further revealed that the deceased, along with a friend, had entered the sea for swimming when both were caught in difficulty and drowned. On-duty lifeguards immediately rescued both persons and brought them ashore.
They were rushed to CHC Tuem for medical treatment, where Aditya was declared brought dead, while the other person was later shifted to Goa Medical College (GMC), Bambolim, for further treatment.
Further investigation in the case is being carried out by PSI Jaydeep Palyekar of Mandrem Police Station.
