Panaji:
Following criticism from various quarters, Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant on Wednesday clarified that all beneficiaries of Griha Aadhar and DSSY need not submit life and income certificates.
“We have about 2.2 lakh beneficiary of the Griha Adhar and DSSY Scheme. Due to pandemic, we have said that all are not required to submit the life certificate and income certificate,” CM said at the post cabinet press briefing.
Sawant said only those beneficiaries of DSSY and the Griha Aadhar are required to submit certificates those who have been sent letters from the respective departments.
“There is some confusion in the minds of the people,” he said adding “only those beneficiaries who were not present at home when the survey were conducted or those who have been served notices have to submit certificates.”.
He said that out of 2.2 lakhs only 7,000 odd people who have received letters from the govt regarding resubmission of documents have to submit them again.
DSSY scheme is availed by 1.368 lakh beneficiaries while Griha Aadhar scheme has 73,000 odd beneficiaries.
Sawant said that the State spends Rs 47 crore per month on both the schemes together.
“Disbursement of benefits under both the schemes was affected during lockdown period and the same will be streamlined and regularized soon,” Sawant said.
