PORVORIM: Cracking down on narcotics and foreigners violating visa norms, the North Goa Police booked eight cases and arrested seven persons during August under a special drive codenamed Operation Flush Out.
Among those held was a Nigerian national from whom Anjuna Police seized 18.10 grams of cocaine worth ₹1.8 lakh. A British national was also booked under the Foreigners Act for overstaying in Goa without valid travel documents.
In all, police seized 9.194 kg of ganja valued at ₹8.93 lakh, 65 grams of hydroponic ganja worth ₹6.05 lakh, 21.10 grams of cocaine worth ₹2.40 lakh and 1.5 grams of ecstasy worth ₹25,000. Two NDPS cases each were registered at Anjuna and Mandrem police stations, while Panaji, Mapusa and Calangute booked one case each.
Officials said the coastal belt continues to be a focus area for enforcement, with the drive aimed at curbing drug trafficking and the illegal stay of foreigners. Police have warned that strict action will continue against those violating the law.
