New Delhi: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Friday hailed Operation Sindoor as a clear demonstration of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s decisive leadership, the precision of Indian intelligence agencies, and the exceptional capabilities of the armed forces.
Speaking at the inauguration of an upgraded Multi-Agency Centre (MAC) in Delhi—designed to bolster intelligence coordination—Shah said, “Operation Sindoor is a unique symbol of Prime Minister Modi’s firm political will, the precise intelligence of our agencies, and the unmatched strike capability of our three armed forces.”
The MAC, operating under the Intelligence Bureau, was originally established after the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks to improve real-time information sharing among India’s law enforcement and security agencies. Its latest upgrade aims to further enhance inter-agency coordination.
Precision Strikes in Response to Pahalgam Attack
Operation Sindoor was launched in the early hours of May 7, in direct retaliation to the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam, which claimed 26 lives. Under the operation, Indian forces conducted precision strikes targeting terror infrastructure across Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, eliminating over 100 militants affiliated with Lashkar-e-Taiba, Jaish-e-Mohammad, and Hizbul Mujahideen.
India and Pakistan later agreed to halt military operations on May 10, following high-level military communications. However, India has made it clear that this is a temporary pause, not a permanent cessation of its counter-terror operations.
Modi: ‘This Is the New Normal’
Prime Minister Modi, in a televised 22-minute national address, described Operation Sindoor as a reflection of India’s new doctrine against terrorism. He warned that while military action has been paused, future responses would depend entirely on Pakistan’s behavior.
“We have only kept in abeyance our operations against Pakistan, and the future will depend on their conduct,” Modi said.
The Prime Minister also sent a stern warning to Pakistan and the international community: India will not yield to nuclear threats, and terrorism cannot coexist with diplomacy or trade. “Terror and trade, terror and talks—these cannot go together,” Modi asserted.
