PORVORIM: Opposition today grilled the govt over long delays of several projects handled by Goa State Infrastructure Development Corporation (GSIDC) in the state, leading to a large-scale escalation of prices.
Members listed several projects, from Ravindra Bhavan to office buildings and bridges, which have been delayed for several years.
The whole purpose of setting up GSIDC under CM was to complete projects within the stipulated time, said Digambar Kamat. CM Sawant attributed the delay in some projects over the last 2 years to the Covid pandemic and financial constraints.
Due to the delay, the project cost has also increased, necessitating revision of cost, CM said.
“We have prepared a list of projects to be completed in priority. Those nearing completion and those needed on priority will be taken up first,” he added.
CM Pramod Sawant further assured the house that Hospital at Tuem will be completed by December 31, 2022 and Ravindra Bhavan at Canacona will be ready by March 31, 2023.
