PANAJI: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said that the Opposition tried to ridicule Govt’s SIT on land grabbing, but stayed silent when Siddique was arrested.
“The Opposition tried to ridicule Govt’s SIT on land grabbing, but stayed silent when Siddique was arrested. Action was taken by our Govt against this Criminal and we will bring him to justice,” said Sawant
He further said that Nearly 30 individuals are already under investigation, and we will not condone any compromise in the matter.
Sawant stated, “We have already taken action against IRB constable Amit Naik and others involved, and they will also face the consequences.”
Taking a potshot at the Opposition, in regards to its mockery of the constituting of the Special Investigation Team (SIT) on land grab cases, he recalled the constituting of SIT. “But, the SIT investigated into 100-200 cases and brought to light humongous amount of illegal land grabbing both of private and government properties,” the CM narrated.
Sawant said that he is being supported by the opposition. “Now they are moving around with his photo like ‘bhakts’. Is he their relative? Or do they want to enfold him into their party? The Opposition seems to believe the allegations of a thief. What are they trying to hide?” he asked.
Sawant made a guarantee to the voters that Suleman will be apprehended. “He will 100 percent be caught. Once that happens, everything will be unleashed. My team is after it,” he said.
CM likewise regarded the opposition’s hushing up when Suleman was apprehended after eluding captivity for over four years and after SIT spent three months investigating him. He further added that there was no rebuttal from the opposition when the said Suleman’s illegal building was bulldozed in Mapusa.
Sawant straightened out thinking why other police personnel might be helping Suleman escape and promised to have some responsibility. “There may be some within the outfit but action will be taken,” he said.
