PANAJI: The Goa Legislative Assembly was adjourned again on Monday following a protest by opposition members over private members’ Bills.
When the session resumed, Leader of the Opposition Yuri Alemao inquired about the tabling and discussion of the Bills.
Chief Minister Pramod Sawant responded that the Bills were currently under scrutiny and suggested that Monday’s proceedings should not be spent on private members’ Bills.
Tensions escalated as opposition legislators rushed to the well of the House, demanding discussion on the Bills.
In response to the disruption, Speaker Ganesh Gaonkar adjourned the House for half an hour.
The incident marks another day of heightened tensions in the Assembly amid ongoing debates over legislative priorities and the scrutiny process for private members’ Bills.
