VERNA: Revolutionary Goans Party (RGP) leaders and supporters staged a protest outside the premises of Indoco Remedies on Friday morning, accusing the pharmaceutical company of repeatedly ignoring Goan candidates while advertising job vacancies in neighbouring states.
RGP chief Manoj Parab led the protest, alleging that the company had once again sidelined local youth despite past assurances. “Indoco Pharma has crossed all limits. They are shamelessly stealing jobs meant for Goans and recruiting outsiders while our own youth remain unemployed. This betrayal will neither be forgotten nor forgiven,” said Parab.
He added that interviews were scheduled for out-of-state applicants even after the Chief Minister had earlier assured that such practices would not recur. “Last time, they were forced to withdraw the advertisement. Now they’re back at it, which shows they’re indulging in dadagiri, and the BJP government has no control over such industries,” he said.
Parab also raised concerns that the company may be receiving political protection or funding BJP through CSR channels, helping it evade accountability. He demanded a meeting with the company’s HR department to insist that preference be given to Goan jobseekers. “Goans are skilled and willing to work. This bias must end,” he asserted, further alleging that several HR officials at Indoco were from outside Goa and prioritised hiring from their home regions.
Joining the outrage, Fatorda MLA Vijai Sardesai said he had spoken to Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant and demanded immediate government intervention. “Indoco Pharma is a repeat offender, knowingly bypassing Goan youth. They treat locals as invisible, and this government is too weak or too complicit to stop them,” Sardesai said.
He warned that if no action was taken, people would be compelled to act. “We will not stay silent while our youth are denied the right to work in their own land. If this insult continues, we will be forced to shut the gates of any company that excludes Goans.
