PANAJI: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant said that the state is in grave danger as more and more migrants are joining the traditionally Goan-run occupations.
He asserted that government officials should support talented Goans in their endeavours and not only concentrate on infrastructure development.
“Outsiders are venturing into business activities in Goa. If this continues, Goans will not be able to do business,” he said.
He further said that elected representatives need to encourage & support locals. “Only infrastructure development should not be done, we also need to do human development,” he added.
Sawant said that there is a need to make such people self-sufficient and that he has recently spoken to the poultry association about reviving the poultry business within Goa’s borders.
“We should be able to supply good quality chicken produced within Goa,” said Sawant.
He said that one foundation has already agreed to provide Rs 10 lakh aid to those looking to open small poultries in the state.
“At present, the local requirement of broiler chickens is mainly met through supply from outside the state,” he added.
