Porvorim: In a heartfelt celebration of achievement and potential, over 120 meritorious students from the Porvorim constituency were felicitated by Porvorim Rising on the occasion of International Yoga Day. The ceremony, held at the Socorro Panchayat Hall, brought together students, parents, educators, and dignitaries to honour academic brilliance and community spirit.
The Chief Guest for the event was Rohan Ashok Khaunte, Minister for Tourism, Information Technology, Electronics & Communication, and MLA of Porvorim. Congratulating the young achievers, Khaunte highlighted the importance of resilience, holistic growth, and balancing academic pursuits with personal well-being.
“In this rapidly evolving digital age, traditional paths are constantly being disrupted. While there are immense opportunities, what truly makes a difference is the presence of guidance, mentorship, and exposure,” he said. “Your achievements reflect not only your hard work but also the support of your families and schools. You represent a future-ready Porvorim—resilient, aware, and equipped to navigate a changing world.”
Manoj Sawaikar, Deputy Director of Education, served as the Chief Speaker and offered valuable advice on career planning, staying focused, and building strong character. He urged students to remain humble while aspiring for greater heights.
The program was organized by Porvorim Rising, a community initiative spearheaded by Khaunte that consistently undertakes impactful activities to uplift the constituency. Students scoring above 75% in the Goa Board Class 10 and 12 exams (March-April 2025) from the panchayats of Socorro, Salvador do Mundo, and Penha de Franca were felicitated with certificates, mementoes, and words of encouragement.
Coinciding with International Yoga Day, the event also reinforced the importance of balance—between mind, body, and academic pursuits—reflecting the holistic values promoted by the initiative.
