BAMBOLIM: More than 20,000 units of blood were collected through 322 donation camps in 2025, significantly strengthening emergency and routine patient care across Goa, Health Minister Vishwajit Rane said while highlighting system upgrades at Goa Medical College (GMC).
According to the minister, a total of 20,362 units of blood were collected and processed into components to support patients at GMC, district hospitals and private healthcare facilities across the state.
Rane also noted that with an average daily OPD attendance of around 2,300 patients, GMC has enhanced access to services through online OPD booking, call-based appointments, queue management systems and walk-in registrations to reduce waiting time and improve patient flow.
He further stated that the Super Speciality Block under the Pradhan Mantri Swasthya Suraksha Yojana (PMSSY) continues to function as one of the largest facilities of its kind, supporting advanced treatment as well as super speciality medical training.
The Health Minister emphasized that the focus remains on strengthening systems to ensure timely, reliable and accessible healthcare for every citizen in Goa.
