THIVIM: In an unprecedented turn of events, more than 50 Gaonkars staged a walkout during the Thivim Communidade election, citing lack of confidence in the candidates and alleging widespread mismanagement.
The meeting, held at Livrament Hall, was marred by chaos, with locals accusing officials of procedural lapses and fraudulent practices.
Some Gaonkars were reportedly barred from voting, while others found their names unexpectedly canceled.
Allegations of fake ID cards being used during the entry process further fueled the anger. Locals expressed frustration over rules being selectively enforced and accused the administration of undermining the fairness of the election.
“The misjudgments and irregularities were unacceptable. For the first time, we felt our rights as Gaonkars were disrespected,” said one angry voter. Many walked out in protest, marking a historic boycott in Communidade history.
The Gaonkars are now demanding a thorough investigation into the election process and immediate corrective action.
