MARGAO: Former MLA Micky Pacheco has filed a complaint against Hindu Raksha Maha Aghadi led by Subhash Velingkar under Sections 153A, 153B, 295, and 505 of the Indian Penal Code for his remarks on St Francis Xavier.
“As you know, the Indian constitution declares India a sovereign, Socialist, Secular, and the Democratic Republic. The objectives
stated by the Preamble of the Indian Constitution are to secure justice, liberty, and equality for all citizens and promote fraternity to maintain unity and integrity of the nation.
Yesterday, i.e. on 28/04/2022, Subhash Velingkar, along with some other individuals under the banner of Hindu Raksha Maha Aghadi, held a press conference and uttered a lot of disturbing comments aimed at creating enmity between communities. He further said that St. Francis Xavier, whom the Goans and people cutting across Geographical
boundaries revere as a Saint and “Goencho Saib” can’t be Goencho Saib,” Pacheco said in his complaint to Colva police.
He said that Velingkar has stated that Portuguese officials and bootlickers are the ones who set the name “Goencho Saib” and that the actual “Goencho Saib” is not St. Francis Xavier but lord Parshuram”.
“He also spewed a lot of other venoms with the
the sole aim of creating communal disharmony. He has therefore committed offenses under Sections 153A, 153B, 295, and 505 of IPC and ought to be booked immediately. He is a threat to the National Security and appears to be playing at the behest of some enemies to not only create enmity between communities but also create Civil unrest to destabilize the
Nation,” he said.
Pacheco stated that Velingkar and all others should also be booked under the
National Security Act and other stringent laws of the Country.
