New Delhi: : The fragile peace along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir was disrupted once again when the Pakistan Army engaged in unprovoked firing on Indian positions in the KG Sector of Poonch. This blatant ceasefire violation prompted a robust response from the Indian Army, with the Nangi Tekri Battalion under the Krishna Ghati Brigade leading the retaliation.
The latest incident of ceasefire violation by Pakistan occurred on Tuesday across the Line of Control in Poonch. The Indian Army’s swift and strong response was backed by the Nangi Tekri Battalion, which operates under the Krishna Ghati Brigade, reflecting the seriousness with which India views such provocations. This development points to increasing tensions, despite the clear signaling of peace through previous agreements.
In a separate but related development, security forces in the region have stepped up their vigilance. Following an exchange of fire with terrorists in the Panjtirthi area of Kathua, a joint operation involving the Indian Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police, and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) was launched. This operation was initiated after intelligence inputs indicated suspicious movements on the night of March 31, which escalated into a fresh encounter.
Following the exchange of fire, security personnel initiated a search-and-destroy operation early on April 1. The Rising Star Corps of the Indian Army confirmed that these operations are ongoing, with forces maintaining a heightened state of alertness in the region. This heightened activity underscores the determination of security forces to thwart any potential threats and maintain peace along the volatile border.
