New Delhi: Pakistan’s Information Minister, Attaullah Tarar, has claimed that Islamabad possesses “credible intelligence” indicating that India may initiate military action within the next 24 to 36 hours. This assertion follows the recent Pahalgam terror attack in Indian-administered Kashmir, which resulted in the deaths of 26 civilians. Tarar characterized the potential Indian strike as a response to “baseless and fabricated allegations” concerning Pakistan’s involvement in the attack. He warned that any Indian military aggression would be met with a “certain and decisive” response, emphasizing Pakistan’s commitment to defending its sovereignty.
The Pahalgam incident has significantly strained relations between the two nuclear-armed neighbors. India accuses Pakistan of supporting the militants responsible for the attack, a claim Islamabad denies. In retaliation, India has taken several measures, including downgrading diplomatic ties, suspending the 1960 Indus Waters Treaty, revoking visas for Pakistani nationals, and closing the Wagah-Attari border.
Tarar also criticized India’s refusal to accept an impartial international investigation into the Pahalgam attack, suggesting that India’s actions are politically motivated and could lead to regional instability. He reiterated Pakistan’s offer for a neutral probe into the incident and expressed concerns over India’s confrontational stance.
The situation has drawn international attention, with the United Nations urging both nations to de-escalate tensions and engage in dialogue to prevent further conflict. The international community remains concerned about the potential for military confrontation between India and Pakistan.
