PANAJI: Panaji Police registered an offence after a man was caught red-handed accepting illegal bets in a public place near the Taj Vivanta junction at St. Inez.
According to police, the case was registered vide Panaji Police Station Crime No. 156/25 under Section 11(2)(a) of the GPG Act based on a state complaint filed by Head Constable Anil G. Kurtikar.
The accused, identified as Mandan Mani Nath (35), a resident of Boca de Vaca, Panaji, was apprehended around 4:00 pm while allegedly accepting bets in numerical figures. During a personal search, police recovered ₹970 in various denominations.
He was arrested at 6:00 pm and released on bail at 6:24 pm after completing all Supreme Court guidelines, police said.
Further investigation is being carried out by HC Anil G. Kurtikar of Panaji Police Station.
