PANAJI: Panaji Police have registered Cr. No. 179/2025 after a taxi driver was allegedly assaulted and threatened by three individuals at Colwalkar Plaza, Taleigao.
The complaint was filed by Namdev @ Vinod Mayekar, 48, a resident of Colwalkar Plaza and a taxi driver by profession. According to him, the incident took place on December 9, 2025, at around 8:30 am when he questioned one of the accused, Rafik Attar, for sitting in the pathway leading to his flat.
Police said that Rafik, angered by the confrontation, called his two sons — Yasim Attar and Salman Attar. The trio allegedly abused the complainant in filthy language and then assaulted him using an iron rod, along with fist blows and kicks. The attack reportedly caused injuries to the complainant’s left eye, nose, and right leg.
The accused also allegedly threatened to kill the complainant.
Based on the complaint, Panaji Police registered the offence under Sections 118(1), 352, 351(3) read with 3(5) of the BNS.
Further investigation is currently underway.
