Panaji: Panaji has unveiled a new riverside attraction, The Riverfront, positioning itself as the city’s largest outdoor venue. Located along the Mandovi River near the historic Mandovi Hotel, the venue stretches 700 feet along the riverbank and is designed to host a variety of events, including weddings, social gatherings, corporate functions, exhibitions, pop-ups, and cultural evenings.
Developed by the Bengaluru-based MRG Group, The Riverfront combines modern infrastructure with thoughtful design that complements Panaji’s architectural and cultural character. The venue includes dedicated service areas, ample parking, and a private river jetty, while maintaining an open, natural ambiance that allows events to define the space. It can accommodate up to 1,000 guests and has a private parking facility for 55 vehicles.
The launch of The Riverfront was marked by the Art Stories exhibition, featuring collaborative artworks by children and adults with different abilities from Divya Sadan and St. Francis Xavier Vocational Centre, both initiatives of Caritas Goa. Curated by Samira Sheth and facilitated by Lioba Knepple, the exhibition draws inspiration from daily life, gardens, and vegetables, as well as iconic artists like FN Souza, Vincent van Gogh, and Paul Klee, creating reflective and intimate narratives.
“We envisioned The Riverfront as a space that feels naturally integrated into Panaji while honoring the Mandovi River’s central role in the city’s identity,” said Dr. K. Prakash Shetty, chairman of the MRG Group. “The aim was to offer a venue that supports diverse events without overwhelming the riverfront setting.”
The MRG Group, known for its hospitality and real estate ventures, owns leading hotels across India, including The Goldfinch in four cities, DoubleTree by Hilton Goa at Ribandar, and Marriott properties in Mumbai and Bengaluru, among other projects. The Riverfront marks the group’s continued expansion in Goa’s hospitality landscape, providing a versatile venue with scenic river views and modern amenities for both local and corporate events.
