PONDA:
Despite the Deputy Collector and State Child Commission for Protection of child rights taking cognisance of the OPA Bus stop shed issue, so far, there seems to be no solution to the OPA Bus stop shed issue.
According to locals, the PWD area meant for the bus stop shed was encroached on by one Shop owner depriving the construction of a bus stop at OPA Junction for school children.
The Locals are demanding a bus stop shed as the OPA junction is accident-prone, and students risk standing on the road to board buses after school hours.
It may be recalled that on 8 Feb State Child Commission Chairman had Inspected the OPA Bus stop Junction along with the presence of various officials from various departments, including Curti Khandepar Panchayat Secretary. The State Child Commission Chairman Peter Borgis, after Inspection, had directed the Panchayat Secretary to discuss the issue in Panchayat Body Meeting. When asked what decision the Panchayat body had taken on Sarpanch, Naved Tehsildar said Body has resolved to write to PWD Department to identify its land at OPA Junction and restrict it.
However, Local Sandeep Parkar said Panchayat couldn’t avoid its responsibility. He said it should take action under Panchayat Raj Act. He said without proper documentation, Panchayat cant issue NOCs. He said in 2012 there, was provisional license was issued for the said shop. He told me how Panchayat is renewing the permit for it when the shop is in the PWD area.
Meanwhile, when contacted, the concerned PWD official was not reachable.
It may be recalled that before Child Commission took Cognizance last year, the dy collector had given directions to PWD asking them for the boundary of the land and remove the kiosk if they fell within the acquired land of PWD. The order also was given to the panchayat to take action independently as per the Panchayat Raj Act.
According to locals, instead of taking action panchayat passed a resolution asking the PWD for demarcation of the land, whereas the panchayat had issued a trade license on govt acquired land, which needs to be revoked at the earliest, taking into consideration the safety of the students
