PANAJI: To ascertain, evaluate, and update the circle and area built-up rates of properties in Goa, the state government established a 14-member committee.
The Revenue Secretary-led group will also make recommendations on how to enhance the State Government’s revenue mobilization and collection.
The committee would have to analyze the present market trends and prices, propose the updated circular rate for land, and offer a framework for periodic rate revisions, according to a notification issued on January 27 by Under Secretary Revenue-I Vrushika Kauthankar.
Additionally, the committee will advise the government on how to implement the Registration Department’s ease of doing business and guidelines/formulas for calculating various types of land building rates (ready reckoner).
The State Registrar from the Registration Department, the Collector of North and South Goa, the Director of Settlement & Land Records, the Chief Town Planner, the Principal Chief Engineer from the Public Works Department, and the Director of Panchayats are among the important representatives on the committee. For two years, the committee will continue to operate.
To support the State-level committee, the government has also established a subcommittee under the Joint Secretary, Revenue.
Circle rates are the minimum prices set by the government for property transactions in specific areas. Recently, the State had revised land rates in several talukas, including Bardez, Pernem, Salcete, Tiswadi, and Mormugao wherein the jump is huge.
