VASCO: In a significant upset, the panel floated by Ulhas Phaldessai, The Chairman of Goa State Co-operative Banks and the brother of Minister Subhash Phaldessai, suffered a complete defeat in the elections for Sahakar Urban Cooperative Credit Society held on Sunday.
The Sahakar Vikas Manch Panel, led by Uday Prabhu, a founder member of the society, emerged victorious. Prabhu’s panel secured all positions, marking a decisive win for the cooperative’s leadership.
Despite high expectations, Ulhas Phaldessai himself lost the election, along with all eight candidates supported by him under the Sahakar Samruddhi Manch Panel
This outcome is seen as a major political setback for the Phaldessai family, which had banked on gaining influence through this election.
The entire state had a watch on the results of this elections , considering the fast approaching elections for the Goa State Co-operative Bank that are likely to be held in the month of December
Sources said that Ulhas Phaldessai had been elected in the Goa State Co-operative Bank only after he had been elected as the Chairman of Sahakar Urban Cooperative Credit Society.
” The Sahakar Urban Cooperative Credit Society is an eleven member body and three members had already been elected unopposed.
The elections were held on Sunday to elected the other eight members and the results were declared on Monday after the counting of votes where Ulhas Phaldessai and his Sahakar Samruddhi Manch panel members faced defeat while the panel of Sahakar Vikas Manch, led by Founder member Uday Prabhu emerged victorious” said the source
The victorious Sahakar Vikas Manch Panel led by founder member Uday Prabhu emphasized their long-standing commitment to the cooperative’s values and expressed confidence in their ability to drive development and transparency.
Speaking after the results, Uday Prabhu expressed his gratitude to the society’s members for their support and trust.
