Panjim Footballers and Guardian Angel SC were forced to settle for a share of the spoils after a thrilling 1-1 draw in the Goa Professional League at Benaulim. Panjim Footballer’s
the goalkeeper produced a fine reaction save early on to deny Fulganco Cardozo’s free-kick, which cannoned off the crossbar in the opening ten minutes.
Panjim broke the deadlock on the half-hour mark through Teron Fernandes, who weaved his way past the Guardian Angel defence before slotting home to put his side ahead.
The Angels pressed for an equalizer but were wasteful in front of goal, with the score remaining 1-0 to Panjim at the break.
Guardian Angel came out with a renewed purpose
in the second half and deservedly levelled the scoreline six minutes after the restart. Antush Afonso showcased his dribbling skills on the left flank before cutting inside the box
and curling a delightful effort into the far corner in the 68th minute.
