PANAJI: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant today said that the Prime Minister of Papua Guinea welcoming PM Modi with a Bharatiya gesture is indeed an indicator of India’s rising stature.
“The Prime Minister of Papua New Guinea welcomed PM Modi with a Bharatiya gesture, stating that India is the leader of Global South. It is truly an indicator of India’s rising stature,” said CM Sawant.
He further said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi called for diplomacy to resolve the conflicts and global peace at the forum of the G7 Summit held in Hiroshima, Japan.
He further said that the PM visited the Pacific island nations of Papua New Guinea, and Fiji, where he received the highest civilian awards and honour for India.
PM Modi concluded his one-day, highly impactful first-ever visit to Papua New Guinea and emplaned for Sydney from Port Moresby in Papua New Guinea.
Prime Minister and Prime Minister Marape launched a translation of the Tamil classic ‘Thirukkural’ to the Tok Pisin language of PNG. The translated book is co-authored by linguist Subha Sasindran & Mr Sasindran Muthuvel, Governor of West New Britain Province of Papua New Guinea. The book has a foreword by Prime Minister Marape.
Prime Minister Modi congratulated the authors and complimented them on their contribution towards preserving the tenets of Indian thought and culture in Papua New Guinea.
