CANACONA: Parampujya Shrimad Vidhyadheesh Teerth Swamiji returned to the Partagali Jeevottam Math on Saturday after completing the Chaturmas Vrat—a four-month period of austerity and spiritual discipline—observed in Varanasi.
The revered Swamiji was accorded a rousing welcome at the Shree Samsthan Gokarn Partagali Jeevottam Math by members of the Saraswat Samaj from Canacona, Karnataka, and devotees from across the region. The reception was marked by garlanding, chants of “Jai-Jai Kur-Maharaj,” and the rhythmic beats of dhol-tanse-kansali.
Shree Samsthan Gokarn Partagali Jeevottam Math, one of the oldest Gaud Saraswat Mathas of the Dvaita order established in the 13th century, is celebrating its 550th anniversary—Sardha Panchashatamanotsava—from November 27 to December 7 this year.
As part of the milestone celebrations, extensive developmental, renovation, and upgradation works have been undertaken at the Math, including improvements to approach roads and the installation of a 77-foot bronze statue of Lord Rama.
The Lord Ram statue is expected to be unveiled during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to the Math on November 28, as part of the Sardha Panchashatamanotsava celebrations.
