Pernem: Police on Friday (28 November 2025) arrested a 41-year-old man for allegedly stealing a laptop from a commuter aboard a Mapusa–Pernem passenger bus.
The offence, registered at 2:00 pm under Section 305 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) 2023, was based on a complaint filed by Kshitij K.C., 23, a civil engineer residing in Vasco.
According to the complaint, at around 9:40 am near Malpe, Pernem, the accused — K. Vasanth, son of Karpan, resident of Chintamani village, Thichinapalli, District Trichy, Tamil Nadu — allegedly committed theft of the complainant’s bag containing an ASUS ROG laptop (Model G5131C-HN023WS, Serial No. N8NRKD014223317) valued at approximately ₹1,10,000.
Police placed the accused under arrest at 3:55 pm, and he has been lodged in the Pernem Police Station lockup.
Further investigation is being conducted by HC Dinesh Kavlekar (7284) of Pernem Police Station.
