MOPA: A passenger was detained at Manohar International Airport, Mopa, on Tuesday morning after security personnel found a misfired round of ammunition in his handbag during screening.
According to police, the incident occurred around 8:50 am when CISF personnel at the domestic security hold area detected a .22 mm misfired cartridge inside the purse of passenger Mohmad Shahid (36), a resident of Sagar, Madhya Pradesh. Shahid was scheduled to travel to Indore by Air India Express flight IX-2761 and was allotted seat 8C.
Police said the passenger failed to produce a valid arms license or permission from the competent authority to carry the ammunition, thereby violating Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS) guidelines.
A case has been registered based on the complaint of SI Somnath Pradhan of CISF, ASG Unit, Mopa, and further investigation is underway.
