DABOLIM: A passenger travelling on an Indigo Airlines flight to Surat triggered a safety breach at Dabolim Airport on Saturday after allegedly opening the emergency exit flap cover of the aircraft during the boarding process, causing a technical glitch and posing a risk to passenger safety.
The incident occurred on Saturday and was reported by Prajakta Gawas, Assistant Manager – Security, Interglobe Aviation Ltd. (Indigo). According to the complaint, the accused passenger, identified as Sidapara Divyesh (34), a native of Gujarat, opened the emergency flap cover of the aircraft while boarding, despite clear instructions not to tamper with aircraft equipment.
Airport authorities stated that the action resulted in a technical issue, prompting immediate intervention by airline staff. While no injuries were reported, the act is considered a serious safety violation as it endangered the lives of other passengers and disrupted normal procedures.
Following the complaint, Dabolim Airport Police registered an offence under Section 125 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023 and the matter is currently under investigation by PSI Akanksh Dessai of Dabolim Airport Police Station.
